Circular Knives grinding / sharpening
Circular Knives grinding / sharpening facilities at Mastercut accommodate Circular Knives of all designs and sizes up to 600 mm diameter. The main features of our Circular Knives grinding / sharpening facilities are:
- Automatic grounded wheel feed
- Sharpening single / double bevel knives
- Rotating and tilting head
- Knife carrier shaft with speed regulator
- Natural diamond abrasives provide long-lasting results for grinding very hard super alloys
- Borazon abrasives are used effectively on hardened steels and deliver higher degree of accuracy
During sharpening / grinding process single or double bevel circular knives are located either by arbor or direct on the knife carrier shaft and the rate at which the rotating blade is fed into the wheel can be precisely monitored. Circular Knives with two bevels (on either side) have both bevels ground simultaneously thus enabling their exact matching after the process.
At Mastercut we provide accurate grinding / sharpening of circular knives with all grinding angles (positive or negative), height and diameter adjustments. We always provide high quality professional sharpening and finish of Circular Knives up to individual requirements. We understand that every Circular Knife application has a different level of requirements and only together with a customer we can deliver the desirable sharpening result.
Granulator blade sharpening
The most common problems with poor quality plastic cutting Granulator Blades are increased noise, vibration, fines, and building excessive heat. Dull granulator blades blotch plastic instead of sharp cuts and increase a waste level.
Keeping all granulator blades, bed knives and rotating knives, sharp decreases dust, provides the best-processed materials and significantly decreases wear on the granulator. Maintaining granulator blades in sharp conditions allows to achieve perfect cutting results with used blades at a significant cost savings over new blades.
We sharpen and grind Granulator Blades for precision performance ensuring clear cuts, correct fit, and durability.
Almost all makes and models of granulator blades can be resharpened by our company. MASTERCUT sharpens and grinds all granulator knives including fixed bed knives, rotating fly knives, helical knives, straight and ‘V’ tooth.
- The company has sharpening capabilities up to 6 meters long
- Correct sharpening abrasive for your blade that doesn’t produce overheat
- Sharpening of Granulator Blades made of Carbon, Alloy, and Tungsten Tipped steels
- Sharpening and grinding of blades with any angle and profiler
- If required Granulator Blades can be finish ground to profile

To significantly increase granulator blade life we suggest special coatings or cryogenic treatment after sharpening or grinding. This will greatly improve blade wear resistance.
Guillotine blade sharpening
Paper Cutting Guillotine Blade Sharpening Service and Metal Cutting Guillotine Blade Regrinding, and Repair Services are performed at the company facilities.
- Paper cutting guillotine blade sharpening service is performed on the bevelling machine first and then completed with a hand polishing to mirror finish
- Metal cutting guillotine shear blade sharpening service is always performed on the company's grinding machines
The bevelling machine accurately removes all damage and grooves from a paper cutting guillotine blade during the first stage of the sharpening process. Due to our extended database of bevels for various paper cutting guillotine blades our masters are very precise at this stage of the sharpening service. The exact positioning of the grinder enables us to take off only irregular blade areas of less than half a millimeter (even less for tungsten carbide blades), leaving almost the same thickness of the guillotine blade after the sharpening service to sustain many more sharpening cycles.
To remove the burr after machine grinding the 'oil stone' is used. This stage of hand sharpening service is applied only to Standard Steel and HSS guillotine blades, as Tungsten Carbide Blades come very sharp after the machine sharpening.
At the next stage of guillotine blade sharpening, a honing machine with 5 very fine grinding wheels is applied. Though a knife honing is an essential step it will not repair even the smallest chip. Honing is used to improve the geometry and texture of a surface.
Finally, a master checks any invisible chips in the ready sharpened guillotine blade with a light paper.
Metal shear blade sharpening services
Metal Shear Blade Sharpening Service is performed on Reform grinder on the company's shop-floor. MASTERCUT specialists turn blunt Metal Cutting Guillotine Shear Blades to a new sharp edge. If a Guillotine Shear Blade loses its sharpness or gets small cracks the edge of the blade can be sharpened several times.
However if a Guillotine Shear Blade is badly chipped or has been re ground for more than 1 mm of the original manufactured thickness then a new set of replacement Guillotine Blades is offered. This recommendation is caused by difficulties in fitting Guillotine Shear Blades with the noticeably reduced ‘width’.
